Easter at Damascus Hostel

Easter saw plenty of action around Damascus Hostel. The guests, led by Sigga from from Iceland, became involved in colouring Easter eggs. Sigga also had two of her stories published about the refugee camps on the border here.
Inga Thommessen arrived from Denmark and proved to be an accomplished singer, composer and guitarist. She gave us copies of two of her CDs and the guests are enjoying listening to them. We miss her but still have her music as a memory of her stay.
Many female guests discovered manicures, pedicures and facials. We all voted Marie Reine Salon on Bab Touma St the best for price and service so far. There are plenty of hairdressers nearby but Georges Coiffeure, trained in France, has become our favourite. He is opposite Marie Reine.
Another lovely discovery is a local product which we hope will spread overseas, Blooms Laurel hair and body wash. It smells divine and is very affordable.
Lots of guests make a daily visit to Abu George who runs the smallest pub in the world. He is only a 3 minute stagger from Damascus Hostel and a local favourite.
Salima (formerly Salim) the hamster made a surprise delivery of 4 babies on Good Friday. One will be named Pablo in honour of a young animal lover guest.
